Asophonics are an Irish folk/rock fusion act fronted by Aaron Thompson and Sophia Jones, blending intricate open-tuned guitar work with rich, dynamic vocal harmonies.  Since their debut, they have built steady momentum across the Irish music scene. Their releases have gained traction nationally and internationally, with regular play on Irish radio and repeat appearances in Hotpress all before the launch of their debut EP. 
Recent highlights include; closing slot at the international Pan Celtic festival, Playing the glasshouse stage at Vantastival, A headline slot at the Carlow Arts Fest and playing to a festival of 5000 people at Greenfields sharing the stage with Irish music legends Aslan and David Geraghty from Bellx1.

Hot For 2025: Asophonics

Fronted by Aaron Thompson and Sophia Jones, this duo channel open-tuned strummings with loose-jointed rhythms, to craft a captivating mix of folk-rock, shoegaze and indie-pop. Since forming in late 2023, Asophonics have quickly made a mark on the local scene, becoming finalists for the nationwide A New Local Hero 2024 talent search. For good measure, they also sold out their debut headline show at Youngblood Sessions 14 in Carlow Town’s Scraggs Alley.

CARLOW BAND Asophonics were one of only six acts to perform in the final of New Local Hero, a competition that’s run by Hot Pressmagazine in association with local radio stations around the country in a bid to find and promote new talent.
